During the course of the past 10 years, Cancer Action NY has endeavored to motivate Health Canada, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumers and the World Health Organization (WHO) to merely provide the public with educational outreach concerning POPs exposure cancer risk. None of the above named governmental public health entities provide any information to the public that would serve to warn the public of the POPs exposure cancer hazard constituted by contamination of all animal fats. We have now concluded that government is so excessively controlled by corporate interests that it is totally incapable of providing warning of the POPs cancer hazard. This lack of governmental capability exists as a result of fear of displeasing corporations in the food production, food distribution, food sales and chemicals manufacturing sectors.

Government has failed to protect the public health over and over again throughout the time period from the early 20th century to the current date. Whenever a large new source of harm is being constructed, government seeks to create the illusion that it is responsibly regulating corporate sources of pollution and that only acceptable releases of POPs are being allowed.

It is the responsibility of all citizens who possess scientific knowledge concerning the POPs cancer hazard to attempt to hold government and corporations responsible for the decision not to warn the public of the POPs cancer hazard and for the many decisions to construct and operate new sources of POPs releases during a time when POPs contamination was already imposing more than an acceptable quantity of cancer risk upon citizens of the United States and Canada. It is our responsibility to move forward with a total replacement of the bad government and elimination of the bad corporations. Starting over again with all new state and federal government institutions and all new people in state and federal government is the only way to proceed from the current outrageous situation.
