On December 27, 2008, Israel launched a brutal assault against the 1.5 million people of the Gaza strip. In the aftermath, over 1300 people were killed, the majority of them civilians.
Israel's war provoked rage and resistance around the world. During the three weeks of "Operation Cast Lead", large street demonstrations took place in cities across the globe, from Beirut to London to Montreal.
Nina is a Palestinian-Canadian living in Montreal and a member of Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR). Nina was an organizer for many of the actions against the Gaza war. As we approach the one year anniversary of the war, Nina reflects on the emotions of the Palestinian diaspora, as well as the re-galvanization of the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israeli Apartheid
