Celebrating 45 years of Unity, Organization and Struggle, the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, the lead organization in the movement to gain civilian control of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to end the impunity that protects racist and criminal behavior within CPD ranks, held a "Weekend of People Power.

Speakers recount their experience at the hands of unprincipled and corrupt policemen or as family of someone wrongly convicted due to a tortured confession. The trauma and loss of trust remains present to this day. Jazmine Salas of the Alliance provides an overview of Chicago's unique history in that both the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago have acknowledged that the CPD has used torture to obtain confessions. Some of the policemen, who were well known to frame Black and Latino youth remain on the force today underscoring the necessity of winning CPAC to answer the call for justice.
