Back in the USSR takes a look at three national liberation movements that employed violence as part of an anti-colonial struggle. The IRA used violence in its campaign against British occupation in Ireland, just as the PLO did in Palestine, just as the ANC did in South Africa. In each case armed struggle only began when peaceful movements were brutally assaulted by an Apartheid state and civil rights struggles were drowned in blood. In each case it emerged only as a bitter necessity.
Music by Brendan "Bik" McFarlane "Monsters, Devils and Strangers", Chris McGill "My Name is Ray McCreesh", Christy Moore "90 Miles", Eire Og "Roll of Honour"
