 Wisconsin Nature Note
One of Wisconsin’s most beautiful and rare butterflies is the regal fritillary. You can see them flitting about prairies in Wisconsin from late June to early September, sipping nectar from blazing stars, vervain, milkweed and other prairie wildflowers. They lay their eggs on prairie violets in August, and important food source for the caterpillars when they emerge the following spring.
