The Department of Public Works coordinates recycling, trash collection, storm recovery, and municipal maintenance and infrastructure. You may not think about snowplowing, graffiti, leaf collection, street sweeping, restoring electrical power, and recycling that old microwave -- until a problem presents itself! Fortunately, Richmond's Department of Public Works has dedicated staff and work crews who plan for and manage these municipal issues, keeping Richmond safe, clean, and productive. The Department steps up in the event of an emergency, of course, but they also strive to improve the quality and effectiveness of their services on a regular basis. The Department is streamlining the trash collection schedule; said changes begin the week of July 9, 2012.
