Passed March 6 after the legislature overrode a gubernatorial veto, the Arkansas law prohibits abortion after 12 weeks of pregnancy. Both measures trample multiple Supreme Court decisions upholding Roe v. Wade and the right to abortion until a fetus is considered "viable". Similar bills are soon to be taken up in Ohio and Kansas. The state of Illinois and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees recently reached an agreement on a new three-year contract.
