Well, happy frickin' birthday to that undead bastard son of the South, Elvis A-Ron Presley! What more can be said about The King when I've covered him three or four times already? A lot, it turns out. I've never completely covered his breakdown years in depth. So for the first 20 minutes of this episode, I resisted the impulse to monkey with the Man. His drug-fueled rant about karate and narco squads and paternity suits and being "strrrrung out" was a solid 7 minutes, but I broke it up with studio outtakes and onstage meltdowns that highlight his vegging state of mind--and except for an Elvis laugh I put in to cover a seam, there is nothing added to the songs. I did not add animal noises, mike sounds, belches--it's all Pure-D Big E himself in his own slurred words in that sequence, right up until Lord Russ's Elvoid cover of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab"! But then I start monkeying with the legend in earnest in my signature style, capping it off with an exhaustive edit of archival sound testimony layered over The Castle's techno number "Elvis Has Left the Building"--then it degenerates into utter mayhem containing works by cre8gent, Mike Toomey, Kronos Quartet, David J, Crown of Thorns, and that dreary fraud Orion.

There's ample reason for Elvis to leave the building tonight.
