In this show, hosts Kabir and Steve cover news headlines, followed by a discussion with Ajamu Nangwaya on the behind-the-scenes politics of Caribana, discussing why it is that Canada's most lucrative festival receives so little funding and benefits the least those who do the most to make the festival a success: Toronto's African and Caribbean working-class communities. Our second interview is with Cynthia Palmaria of the Migrant Women's Coordinating Body in Toronto. Cynthia talks with us about the upcoming Montreal International Women's Conference, happening from August 13-16.
