A new book documents an astonishing correlation between income equality and a wide range of quality of life indicators. The Spirit Level: Why Greater Equality Makes Societies Stronger shows that more equal societies have greater longevity, fewer homicides, more trust, less obesity, better educated kids, and other better outcomes.
That’s good news when world oil production is peaking. Economic growth is largely behind us; now we can improve society for everyone by making our incomes more equal.
