Iâm back after a month away. It was a month of sand, surf, outdoor showers, no TV, lots of reading and some sad news about some excellent musicians. I was saddened to see the news about so many musicians passing. Like I often do I figured I would feature some of these artists the next time I got back on the air. One thing begat another and I came up with a cover themed show â with three separate themes â a triptych of covers.
Well since I was on vacation I had lots of time to select tunes and build the playlist. Before I knew it, I had 4 hours of music and decided to do a covers triptych in two parts (3 X 2). So Weâll continue this show next week.
Weâll start with a bunch of covers by the artists that have left us recently â Chuck E. Weiss (7/19), Nanci Griffith (8/13), Tom T. Hall (8/20), Don Everly (8/22), Charlie Watts (8/24), and Lee âScratchâ Perry (8/29).
Weâll segue from there to Lyle Lovettâs Step Inside This House recording of covers, and part 3 will be covers from a bunch of new albums of covers (and some special selections). So keep it tuned here!
