Today, increasingly, Rappers and Hip Artists are viewed as modern day truth tellers lauded and sometimes taunted for telling it like it is. Their dissection of our various cultures is often prophetic. After years of struggle Rap and Hip Hop artists have assumed their well-earned place in our artistic culture. Today we feature a conversation with Palestinian Rap artist, Tamer Nafar, one of the founders of the celebrated Palestinian Rap group, DAM, whose truth telling has created great controversy within Israeli society. Nafer and DAM are from the Arabic community in Lyd, Israel. It is in the belly of the beast, so to speak, that they speak truth to power through their rap.
