From GERMANY- At the UN Trump delivered several controversial speeches which originally amused then disturbed the international community. Trump flattered the North Korean President, but then threatened Iran, Venezuela, and China. A German commentator pointed out that the rhetoric was primarily aimed at Trump supporters in the US. Trump went on to accuse the Chinese government of meddling in US elections- China denied the charges.
From CUBA- At the UN, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel delivered a formal address- he pointed out that 3.4 billion people live in deep poverty not as a result of socialism, but the end product of imperialism and greed- and that the Cuban revolution remains alive and faithful to its principles. The Russian defense ministry says that Israeli jets are to blame for the Syrian air defense's downing of a Russian aircraft, which killed 15 Russian servicemen. Human Rights Watch has condemned attempts by Saudi Arabia and its allies to stop an investigation into war crimes committed in Yemen.
From RUSSIA- Afshin Rattansi starts with a UN report on the humanitarian crisis in Yemen at the hands of Saudi Arabia, fueled by weapons purchased from Britain including missiles, cluster bombs, and white phosphorous. Then a press review from Radio Free Europe claiming the Pentagon denies that the US had a hand in an attack during a military parade in Iran that killed 25 people.
From JAPAN- 5 world powers say they will establish a financial entity with Iran to facilitate payments for Iranian oil, to counter US sanctions. Then an Insight about the ever increasing radioactive contaminated water at the Fukushima nuclear power plant- the operators want to dilute and release the water into the Pacific Ocean, but strong public pressure has led to proposals to just expand massive containment tanks. The public does not trust TEPCO, the operators of the nuclear power plant.
