Blankfort speaks with Van Wolferen about his article, âKarl Rove's Prophecy,â from January's Unz Review which references Rove's 2004 statement to NY Times writer Ron Suskind in which Rove boasted of creating fictional realities for journalists to study even as new fictional realities are being created that the media will study, etc.
Van Wolferen cites as current example the all-out propaganda assault on Vladimir Putin for election interference without any evidence and how elites and media of Northern Europe are buying into it; noting that what mainstream media produces is fiction, some so obvious as if to tell its readers that it is being done on purpose and they can âtake it or leave it,â unable to do anything about it.
He speaks of the pressure on professional journalists not to challenge official fictions such as JFK assassination or 9-11, which suspended laws of nature, without losing their employment and damaging their careers. He spoke of the role of Bush necon Cass Sunstein, spouse of Samantha Power, who published paper describing how to counter doubters of official 9-11 narrative. The JFK killing marked the takeover by the untruth fabricators and as with 9-11, the government authorized investigations were designed to disguise the truth. Ultimately sees what has happened to the search for the truth as a betrayal by liberals. He finds Trump had to judge and wonders, if in the end, he will, like Obama, give in to the powers of the invisible government. (The conversation will be resumed on Feb. 22.)
