Notes: On a strip of land connecting North and South America, surrounded by the world's two major oceans, Panama serves up an intense mixture of European, African, Indigenous, and Asian cultures: mestizo, Afro-Carribbean, Kuna, NgÃ¶be-BuglÃ©, Chinese. Horn-drenched salsa, accordion-infused tipico, cumbia, the drumming of tamborito, native flutes and drums, calypso, reggaeton, carnival music of La Murga, and the funk and soul of the American South.
