Issac Saney gives a fascinating account of Cuba's internationalist humanitarian role in Africa from defeating the South African Apartheid to providing both medical missions and free medical school education to the Africans to responding immediately to the Ebola epidemic in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and being instrumental in stopping the Ebola epidemic in Liberia with volunteer doctors on the ground.
Why does Cuba give so much? Cuba felt it owed a debt to Africa due to the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and Cuba honors its national hero, Jose Marti, who espoused humanity as a homeland. The Cuban Revolutionary government realized the dream of Jose Marti.
