Teach for Canada, which held a recent launch event at a Toronto law office, wants to recruit and train young university graduates to work as teachers in what it says are Canada's most challenging schools – in rural, remote and Aboriginal communities. Teach for Canada is modelled after the Teach for America program, which was founded more than 20 years ago and has been criticized for undermining public eduction and teachers' unions in the United States.
