Inspire Indeed's new co-host, Alan Hutson, welcomes Mira Signer of National Alliance on Mental Illness: Virginia. NAMI is a national movement to generate medical and community resources, to educate and destigmatize, and to advocate for policies relating to mental health. NAMI Virginia provides an "In Their Own Voices" public education program and a SAMHSA-recognized family-to-family support program among many other direct service options. They also advocate for systems change, lobbying for vital funds in evidenced initiatives, like those for kids' crisis centers, permanent supportive housing, and jail diversion, and they were instrumental in the decades-long push for mental health resources to be insured equally with physical health resources. They partner with Veteran's Affairs' hospitals, the Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness and the Campaign for Children's Mental Health. For more information, visit http://namivirginia.org.
