This year, the German-based Global Nature Fund named Lake Winnipeg the most threatened lake of 2013. This title has previously been given to the Dead Sea in Israel, Jordan and Palestine, Lake Victoria in East Africa and Lake Chapala in Mexico. Lake Winnipeg is Canada's third largest freshwater lake. Vicki Burns is outreach coordinator with the Lake Winnipeg Foundation. There's more information at lakewinnipegfoundation.org.
