Sarah Erdreich, Journalist and Women's Health Advocate is Janie Rezner's first guest discussing Sarah's new book, "Generation Roe: Inside the Future of the Pro-choice Movement." A new way of thinking about abortion--one based in the reality of women's lives" Katha Pollitt writes, "Sarah Erdreich zeros in on the central paradox of abortion in America: one in three women will have at least one abortion by menopause, but the anti- choice movement is scoring victory after victory. Why is that and what does this younger and newer group of supporters for women's rights have to say?
My next guest is Leslene della Madre, author of Midwifing Death; Returning to the Arms of the Ancient Mother. Leslene has just returned from Guatemala with her intent to connect with Mayan women in this time of the new epoch--identified among some as "the new cycle of Women." A message she brings back from the Mayas is that we really need to start listening more to the Ancestors. We don't really have a concept of that in Western Cultures, And, they do-even tho it is all mixed up with the Catholic church and the Conquest and all of that--they do have a strong connection to the ancestors-- They listen very intently and they do a lot of praying in their ceremonies--and they work very closely with the elements She also said that women need to listen to the heart of the elements, the heart of fire, the heart of water, Mother Earth so to pray and listen . . . . . We as westerners need to remember how to do that. we need to cultivate that. We need to bring that back. They are close to Nature. Westerners tend to be not that close to Nature.
I think her point was that we need to renew these connections because this is where we come from. Our journey of awakening . . .
