When this show was made in late December of 2012, the Farm Bill was bogged down in Congress. That means that funding for all the programs covered by this huge piece of quadrennial legislation is on hold. The Farm Bill covers Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, conservation planning, organic certification cost shares, environmental safeguards for farms, as well as subsidies for everyone from working farm families to those for mega-farms and millionaire investors. It is exciting that Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) funds were deemed important enough to be freed up for administration by the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Jack Bricker explains what that means for the small farm families of Virginia and the south, including how to apply.
