THIS WEEK, HARLEM HOSTED THE FIRST MANNING MARABLE MEMORIAL CONFERENCE FEATURING PANEL DISCUSSIONS ON EVERYTHING FROM BLACK FEMINISM, HIP HOP, SOCIALISM AND THE EDUCATION CRISIS, TO THE DETENTION OF MUSLIMS. THE CONFERENCE KEY NOTE SPEAKERS ON SATURDAY WERE WORLD-RENOUNED 1960S POLITICAL ACTIVIST ANGELA DAVIS AND FORMER DEATH ROW PRISONER MUMIA ABU JAMAL WHO DIALOGUED OVER THE TELEPHONE. EARLIER ON FRIDAY, ANGELA DAVIS PARTICIPATED IN A WORKSHOP AT BARUCH COLLEGE IN LOWER MANHATTAN WHERE OVER A HUNDRED COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS ENTERTAINED THE IDEA OF A "LIBERATION SUMMER".
