Robert Harrison is the Rosina Pierotti Professor in Italian Literature at Stanford University and is Chair of the Department of French and Italian. His latest book is Gardens: An Essay on the Human Condition, and his other publications include The Body of Beatrice, Forests: The Shadow of Civilization, and The Dominion of the Dead. He's also the lead guitarist of the thought rock band, "Glass Wave."
