0:12 â Dennis Peron on the 10th anniversary of Prop. 215: http://www.cannabisreport.com/blog/archives/2006/11/dennis_peron_on.php
âIt was about pot, but it was also about being alone in America and finding our tribe.â
0:28 â Dennis Peron, a long history of political activism in San Francisco.
0:33 â John Entwistle, prop 215, âconservative factionâ was opposed to protection for doctors. Imler, Panzer, and others who are claiming they wrote 215 were opposed to protection for doctors. Other version also did not have phrase âfor any other conditionâ.
0:39 â The regulate marijuana like wine initiative, pandering to the right wing. Has no funding and itâs not going anywhere. Regulate marijuana like wine initiative is a red herring. No signature drive. Kubby has said he is refiling and will shoot for the November election. Son of Prop. 19 is the real threat â will be tax and death of home growing and control of the number of retail establishment.
0:44 â Child porn charges. Entwistle: Images were in a deleted section on a hard drive inaccessible to even the owner of the computer. Isnât the point to be able to look at the pictures? And wouldnât there be more than 9 images? Lawyer says it is very questionable âwhat they areâ, whether itâs porn or not. Some of them have clothes on. Peron has not seen images. Entwistle: Itâs really about parking. Dennis was letting homeless people stay in his car. He didnât lock the doors. Neighbor got tired of it.
0:50 â Prop 19 people could have had something to do with it.
1:05 â HR 2306, rescheduling. Two versions: one moving it to Schedule 3, 4, or 5; the other taking it off schedule entirely. Would allow United States to challenge UN resolution 232, which would allow international trade in medical cannabis. Safeguards self-production, protects growing your own. Tobacco is a better financial model than alcohol. Tobacco costs about $3 per pound and sells for about $7 per ounce, and itâs big business.
1:18 â Ethan Nadleman wonât give Peron & Entwistle the time of day.
1:25 â Attorney General Kamela Harris guidelines. Bright spot, Jerry Brown defunded camp.
1:29 â Peron: NORML is a lawyers organization. Lawyers make money on marijuana laws. They donât want to end prohibition.
1:40 â California Cannabis Hemp & Health Initiative. Peron is against it because nobody really cares about hemp. Hemp is a bi-product of marijuana. The âsticksâ will happen, just take care of marijuana. Entwistle: There is no reason for the government to control marijuana. You donât have to control it and tax it to realize a tremendous advantage from marijuana.
1:45 â Peron suspects Prop. 19 proponents had something to do with the raid but he doesnât want to make accusations without a smoking gun. Theyâve done what they could to silence him.
