This is the full 2-14-11 episode of the Labor Express Radio program.
On todayâs program we focus on Chicago municipal elections which are just over a week away. These elections could have a huge impact on working peopleâs lives in this city, so we are devoting todayâs and next week's program to this topic.
We have focused our election coverage up till now on the statements made by Mayoral candidates at a number of candidates forums held around the city. Because Rahm Emmanuel has refused to attend these forums, we have heard little about his position on these issues. So today, we hear some analysis of Emanuelâs politics from journalist Micah Utreicht.
Most of our coverage has focused on the Mayorâs race, but there are many important contested aldermanic seats in the upcoming election as well. Will hear from Jorge Ramirez president of the Chicago Federation of Labor how they are involved in supporting key aldermanic candidates and how they decide who to support.
We will also air more audio from the CTU Mayoral candidateâs forum and the New Chicago 2011 Mayoral candidateâs forum.
