When the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon exploded and then sunk, it highlighted how desperate the world is for new oil. When oil was easy to find, no one would have bothered developing the sophisticated, expensive, and risky technology that now sits in 5,000 feet of water in the Gulf of Mexico. Instead of investing in non-renewable oil, how about removing regulatory hurdles to offshore wind, so instead of âDrill, baby, drill,â we âBuild, baby, buildâ our wind farms?
