Why is Greenpeace hiring Tzeporah Berman as a director of their climate campaign?
For years, major environmental groups have been moving aggressively towards collaboration with the corporations who are undertaking environmental destruction. Why? As George Monbiot wrote in 2002, "the big money today is in something called 'corporate social responsibility.'" While not flawless, Greenpeace has maintained a much better record of actually working to stop destruction instead of merely tweaking it and giving the result a "green" stamp of approval.
Today, the decades of hard work by thousands of Greenpeace volunteers is being threatened by the decision to put Tzeporah Berman in a position of authority and influence inside Greenpeace. It's not too late to stop Greenpeace from becoming another tool for corporations to market themselves as "green". It's not too late to Stop Tzeporah Berman.
