Just before the start of the historic UN climate talks open in Copenhagen, UK civil society will come together and encircle the Houses of Parliament to demand that the UK and Europe do much, much more than they have pledged so far in order to seal a fair and effective climate agreement. The Stop Climate Chaos Coalition brings together over 100 member organisations who in turn have members amassing to around 11 million people â one in six of the population. We speak to SCC director, Ashok Sinha, about what they have planned for the day and about their policy platform.

Their demands include:
- Reduce atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations to around 350 ppmv CO2(e) - Global emissions need to peak and decline by 2015 - UK & EU should reduce emissions by 40% by 2020 with the vast majority of these reductions (preferably all of them) achieved within the UK & EU respectively i.e. without offsets - Protecting forests should be additional, not instead of, these cuts - Industrialised countries should transfer at least $160 billion annually to developing countries to fund adaptation and low-carbon development - UK should bring in an emissions performance standard for new electricity plants that is strict enough to coal power stations without 100% Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) fitted from the outset - Testing of CCS should be on existing power plants only - The UK should invest in our transition to a low carbon economy creating hundreds of thousands of green jobs - By supporting the renewable energy sector, investing in energy efficiency and demand reduction we can meet our EU renewable energy target for 2020 and decarbonise our energy sector by 2030 - Ensure a just transition for the workforce

The 300-350 Show is made for ResonanceFM in London and is syndicated free to not-for-profit community radio stations and independent media outlets around the globe.
The programme is named after what is now believed to the safe level in parts per million (ppm) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This finding is based on the work of James Hansen and his team in a paper titled "Target Atmospheric CO2: Where Should Humanity Aim." http://arxiv.org/abs/0804.1126
