Oh, February is grinding to a close. Teasing with clear skies & warm days & then whisking 'em away. It's left us at Can't Stop the Music musing about the lush, the warm & the wet ... Hawaii & points tropical.
This week's OUTSIDER ROYALTY is dark songwriter & smooth hillbilly singer Eddie Noack, aka Tommy Wood. Ultimately, his career took him to Texas song-poem label All-Star.
You'll find biographical information about Eddie Noack here http://www.answers.com/topic/eddie-noack Noack made "Psycho" famous, although he didn't write it; the song was later recorded by Elvis Costello among others. Noack wrote "These Hands" while in the army which was a huge hit for both Hank Snow & Johnny Cash. And for full Outsider Royalty qualification, he recorded for a period as his career was stalling out on Allstar Records, the Texas quasi-song-poem label. "When The Bright Lights Grow Dim", released on as a 45 by Allstar, is included in the Noack set. But - wow - "Psycho" & "Delores" are hard to top for creep factor.
