Street interviews with six people debating the causes and consequences of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Produced in the studios of WHUS Radio, and broadcast by that station on October 9 and 23, 2006.
Here it is, "9/11" again. And so I bring you the following.
On September 16, 2006, less than a week after the fifth anniversary of the attacks, I went to the World Trade Center site in New York City to record the sidewalk debates that regularly happen there. I conducted six street interviews with people who debate the causes and details of the September 11 attacks. Beginning with a standard set of questions, I tried to learn just where the two sides were coming from.
First heard from are three members of "New York 9/11 Truth", including Tom Foti, who hold regular Saturday demonstrations at the WTC site. Along the sidewalk on Church Street, they hold banners, distribute flyers, and talk to passers-by to challenge what they call the "official version" of 9/11.
Then we hear from three people who interpret 9/11 very differently. Abby Scott, Chad, and Mark "Gravy" Roberts have spent numerous Saturday afternoons publicly explaining the evidence-based consensus for what happened on that day. They know each other through internet discussions hosted by the James Randi Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising public awareness of paranormal and pseudoscientific fraud.

Disclaimer: My continued posting here is _not_ to be interpreted as acceptance or endorsement of any of the other recordings posted to this website. In fact, I reject the increasing presence of material from the "Patriot Movement" and other elements of the far Right. With their vast stores of conspiracism, scapegoating, and reactionary politics, the far Right are not any friends of progressives or radicals. Perhaps this program will go a little way toward bringing folks back to reality.
