Ramona is a spokesperson for MOVE, a Philadelphia-based organization that is "a family of strong, serious, deeply committed revolutionaries." Ramona talks about the MOVE 9 and issues related to their imprisonment.
Healing the Earth Radio
The MOVE 9 have a tragic tale of getting framed for the murder of a single cop, while they were actually in the basement of their own home, trying to survive an intense police raid of their home. Amid the thousands of bullets fired into their home, a police officer across the road was killed in 'friendly fire.' 9 MOVE members were convicted for his murder even though it's impossible for them to have done it.
Now, after 29 years in prison, they are almost up for parole. Ramona talks about who MOVE is, the racist context of Philadelphia that led to their repression, what a no-compromise approach to prisoner solidarity looks like, and their stance on self-determination and self-defence.
