Hundreds of people turned out to the march organized in Toronto by No One Is Illegal and the Don't Ask Don't Tell campaign. Amongst the people gathered were various undocumented immigrants, as well as many supporters including community service groups, human rights organizations, and various trade unions.
The Lizano Sossa family participated in the march for Status for All on May 27th. This Costa Rican family of four will face deportation on July 2nd if immigration authorities don't respond to the many appeals of their case. Gerald and Kimberly talk about what has happened since they were recently arrested by immigration authorities and held in a Toronto detention centre.
Joy Chowsin is Chairperson of the Philipino Women's Centre of Ontario. She talks about the march and their demands that the Canadian immigration authorities overhaul the live-in caregiver program. Sarah is a live-in caregiver. She talks about the difficulties of fulfilling the requirements for status stipulated by the program and calls for regularization of such workers.
