Nathalie Hrizi's eyewitness account of protests against WTO in Hong Kong, December 2005. She was one of a handful of US citizens to participate.

On Jan 27, 2006, Nathalie Hrizi (San Francisco A.N.S.W.E.R.) and Jane Cutter (Seattle A.N.S.W.E.R.) stopped by Bainbridge Island (Washington State) as part of ANSWER's outreach in preparation for the big STOP THE WAR rally coming March 18.
This half-hour segment is composed of excerpts pertaining to the WTO taken from the 4-hour ANSWER workshop. The information is unique since there are almost no first-person accounts by US citizens from within the WTO protest itself.
The tradition of protest made famous in Seattle in 1999 continued. The chanting reverberated from the streets: "Junk, Junk the WTO." Natalie represented ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) during People's Action Week where she joined farmers, workers, women, environmentalists and others from the Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and many other countries.
Nathalie Hrizi is national co-coordinator of Youth and Student A.N.S.W.E.R., contributing editor of Socialism and Liberation magazine and a student at San Francisco State University. Drawn to hot spots worldwide, she has led delegations to Venezuela where she witnessed the vital discourse of democracy brewing on street corners.
She has several articles in Socialism and Liberation Magazine http://socialismandliberation.org
(If the AltBuzz producer, being a ragged out old hippie, may comment ... We see in Ms. Hrizi, 25, the enthusiasm and determination we had way back when. May we support her in the growing effort by young adults to patch up our broken world. We see in her a glimmer of hope. 1967 will never come again and we won't be flocking to San Francisco but come 2007 who knows? See you in Caracas, eh?)
