Alexandra Lysova is Associate Professor of Criminology at Simon Fraser University in Canada, where she immigrated from Russia. She was the 2022 recipient of the Sterling Prize for Support of Controversy for her work on male victims of family violence
In this interview, Prof. Lysova explains the similarities and differences between women's and men's experiences with and perpetration of family violence. She says this field of study originated with the feminist movement and focused on violence against women, but that the worst forms of violence against women cannot be stopped unless men's experiences of violence are also taken into account and help - appropriate help that they can accept - extended to them as well.
