CIA Whistleblower Philip Agee discusses the creation of the military industrial complex in the United States during the Cold War.
The Warfare State Program #AGEP001. Recorded in Castleton, VT on April 9, 1991.
Former CIA officer Philip Agee contends that U.S. foreign policy is driven by the need for crises in order to justify military spending thus creating a warfare state. The spector and threat of overseas enemies and turmoil is a method, Agee argues, of preventing genuine democracy and reform of the domestic system. Speaker Philip Agee
Philip Agee was a former Central Intelligence Agency officer who served in Latin America. After resigning from the CIA he lectured and wrote on the Agency’s clandestine operations. His activities were not unnoticed. Ex-CIA Director and later President Bush the first called Agee “a traitor to our country.” He is the author of Inside the Company: CIA Diary and On the Run. He died in Cuba in January 2008.
Thank God for people like him and fellow ex- C.I.A. John Stockwell, both brilliant, eloquent, and morally competent men who have blown the whistle in the hopes of opening our eyes and seeing things change by showing us but a glimpse into the real workings of the elite in this messed up world! We need people like this more than ever right now! After enough people have been awoken to the truth about 9/11, we may have a shot at really changing things. As I have since then, we all must go back in to the past, further than just 9/11 in our research, not to dwell in it, but to actually learn from it, as it seems people have not learned enough from all these needless wars and atrocities of the near past or before that like Vietnam or WW2 even. Why won't anyone learn? Why do (or why can) the money/power hungry people in this world working up at the top or towards it just turn off their human hearts and minds and deny their humanity, or simply just be compelled into complacency, all for the cash, the control, or the status? I don't understand it...but people like this give me some hope!
