Building Bridges: Your Community & Labor Report Presents:
Are We the People Ready to Tax the Rich or Continue to Live In A Kleptocracy Under the New Robber Barons? with Sarah Anderson, Global Economy Project Director, Institute for Policy Studies co-editor of the web site Inequality.org.
Any promise of American democracy has been stolen with the theft of our labor by the new class of Robber Barons"the CEOs of our big corporations. When will people of African-ancestry be paid for the work theyve done? And, when will we be paid for the work we do, a living-wage! A political system dependent on charity from rich men in hand-tailored suits with $100 million retirement packages is no democracy. It is a kleptocracy. During the 21st century, the annual gap between CEO pay and typical worker pay has averaged about 350 to 1. Are we ready to Eat the Rich? Eat the Rich is an abbreviation of a saying attributed to Jean-Jacques Rousseau. It was used in radical and anti-capitalist circles and gained wider traction at the beginning of the 21st century in response to increasing income inequality.
