On todayâs program, we convene a panel discussion which took place on April 3 , 2021, on the eve of the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO. The name of the conversation was Why Canada should leave NATO. Panelists include Margaret Kimberley from the Black Alliance for Peace, Professor Paul Robinson from the(University of Ottawa), Belgian peace activist Ludo de Brabander and scholar Tamara Lorincz of Canadian Voice of Women for Peace) They will discuss the need to leave a nuclear armed alliance that has drawn Canada into wars in Libya, Afghanistan and Yugoslavia as well as recent military missions in Iraq and Latvia. This was a discussion hosted by the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute, an organization seeking to disrupt the myth of Canada as a force for peace with its reality as a major contributor racial oppression and war.
