A fine, newly (re)discovered audio collage by Virtual Renderings / Chazk. One of his earliest works (2006) and one of his best. Mixing serious commentary, parody and satire, corporate propaganda, and highly relevant music, it explores American jobs, working conditions, the increasing hours and decreasing pay, the myth of upward social mobility, and related topics.
Voices heard include those of Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, John Trudell, Barbara Ehrenreich, Utah Plillips, and others.
Part 2 is even more lively & entertaining than Part 1, IMHO.
"New World Notes" is produced under the auspices (Latin for "Yum-Yum Tree") of WWUH-FM, a community service of that beacon of light in darkest Connecticut, the University of Hartford.
In Part 2 I shortened a few passages of speech and of music owing to time limitations, and I bleeped or snipped a handful of words that the FCC considers indecent.
Owing to factors including the age of the original audio file, ambiguity and duplication of program names, and also (I think) a computer glitch, Chazk's "Observations on Work" is not easy to find on radio4all.net. It's there, though (as of June 2021).
