Neil Clarke is one of the most incisive journalists in the UK yet he can no longer get his articles published in any of the UK national press. One of the reasons is a smear campaign conducted against him and here he talks about that as well as the problems he sees with surveillance of journalists in Britain. Destroyed by appeasing his enemies: The Shakespearean tragedy of Jeremy Corbyn Phase Two of the plan to âGet Corbynâ was to promote a narrative that Labour under his leadership was absolutely awash with anti-Semitism. Corbynâs enemies wanted us to believe that Labour, a party which always prided itself on its anti-racist credentials, and which had a Jewish leader as recently as 2015, was in fact a racist party. Incredibly, this audacious campaign succeeded because Corbyn failed to call it out. The level of actual anti-Semitism in Labour was tiny, but the Labour leader accepted the narrative that there was a big problem to deal with. The result of his continually going on the back-foot was that he and his party were denounced as âanti-Semiticâ on an almost hourly basis. Chris Williamson, a loyal Corbyn ally, was thrown under the bus on trumped-up charges. But this appeasement only led to the campaign being ratcheted up still further. https://www.rt.com/op-ed/475891-corbyn-general-election-destroyed/ https://www.twitter.com/NeilClark66
Abs Ali came to the UK at a very young age from Somalia and has had all sorts of problems getting work and with his housing. Its left him living in a hostel cheek by jowl with some very damaged people, addicts and thieves. He himself succumbed to alcohol addiction and has been forced to live in terrible housing conditions as part of the Bristol City Council sponsored housing schemes. Abs and Tony Gosling discuss the housing problem and what they think need to be done to provide decent housing in Bristol and fix the property market which has been broken by super-wealthy speculators. http://www.tlio.org.uk
