Today I spoke with US Army Major Danny Sjursen about two of his most recent articles for TomDispatch and republished on other sites that deal with one of the most critical problems facing the country today; that in their intense hatred of President Trump, the liberals of the Democratic party and the media that supports it have abandoned all semblance of critical thinking and have far outdistanced the Republican hawks in their support for Washingtonâs enduring wars, a position that has historical antecedents on the issues of war and peace that are unflattering to the party.
The articles and their links: âThe âAdultsâ in the Room Are the Problem.â https://www.thenation.com/article/the-adults-in-the-room-are-the-problem/ and âHypocrisy Without Bounds: The Tragedy of Liberal Foreign Policy,â published online on January 8: https://original.antiwar.com/danny_sjursen/2019/01/07/hypocrisy-without-bounds-the-tragedy-of-liberal-foreign-policy/
âIf anyone else were president,â he writes and elaborates, âthe âliberalsâ would be celebrating. After all, pulling American soldiers out of a couple of failing, endless wars seems like a âwinâ for progressives,â and he goes on from there to demonstrate the current apparently limitless hypocrisy of the Democrats which can spell defeat for them in 2020 if they donât get their heads on straight and push into the shadows, the onetime âbaby boomersâ like Joe Biden who can only spell disaster for the party if chosen as their candidate.
Sjursen expresses his astonishment at the ease in which individuals on the liberal left who would ordinarily be expected to be against Americaâs unjust wars, embrace the generals who have encouraged and led them as âthe adults in the roomâ who they have been counting on to restrain President Trump from doing something crazy which, in this instance, appears to be withdrawing US troops from Syria and Afghanistan.
After listening to Sjursen and reading his articles which I consider a MUST, one must ask, âWho are the crazy ones?
