The older archives (>10 years old) have been substantially recovered -- more than 23,800 files' worth -- and are now reachable through the search engine and via file download. Email here if you have any questions.
Your support is essential if the service is to continue, there are bandwidth bills to pay every month and failing disk drives to replace. Volunteers do the work, but disk drives and bandwidth are not free. We encourage you to contribute financially, even a dollar helps. Click here to donate.

2000-06-06: Radio Project Update

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote a status report for the Radio Project. And few good things have happened since then. 1) We have a nice new 9 Gig hard drive for audio storage kindly donated to us by Manuel Lombardero of the University of Pittsburgh. Much thanks to Manuel for his generosity. 2) Our DSL problems seemed to have cleared up. We've had very good reliability for the past couple months and it looks like it will be smooth sailing bandwidth-wise from now on. So, the sad story described in the previous update is no longer the case. 3) I've been updating the code for the radio project -- adding performance improvements and making the code saner for others who might be interested in using the software. I'm no longer updating the version of the code that's available at sourceforge.net -- I'll be announcing a new place to download the code this weekend. I still haven't forgotten your many requests for certain new features. They're on my to do list and I'll be working on them in the next few weeks. On another note, the Radio Project will soon be approaching our 1000th program. If you are the 1000th uploader, you won't win a prize but we will announce the fact on the radio project mailing list and on the radio project website. One of the people who has contributed alot to the project is Mike Thornton of KVMR in Nevada City, CA. Mike has contributed a whopping 240 programs to the project so far. Since the Radio Project started in 1997, Mike's programs "Full Logic Reverse", "News and Views", and "People's Tribune Radio" have been available on the Radio Project. Thanks, Mike, and keep up the good work. Finally, we'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to the A-Infos Radio Project and everyone who has supported the project various ways. Thanks for helping make the A-Infos Radio Project a success.
