The recent battles in Syria have been in strategic areas. The gains made by the Syrian government forces have put the terrorists and their Saudi Arabian backers in a more difficult situation. There are noticeable alterations of policy by neighboring states which were formerly openly hostile. A major problem that remains, and must be challenged by western peace advocates, is the sanctions imposed by the Saudi’s silent partners in Washington, London, and Paris.
