This is the story of Zamrock and Zimrock â revolutionary rock and roll from 1970s Zambia and Zimbabwe. These are the songs of revolution, rebellion, and revolt. Screaming fuzz guitars, pounding drums, and powerful bass were the weapons against decades of oppression. By taking folk melodies and rhythms from southern Africa's copper belt and melding them with electric guitars and drums, these group of vanguard rock and rollers were the voice of a generation.
