Bangash talks about Fethullah Gulen and some of the other key figures who were likely involved in the effort to seize power from President Erdogan of Turkey. Clearly the Turkish leadership is now in a political dilemma. Erdogan has demanded the US turn over Gulen but the US shows no intention to do so. And the suspicion is that the US and Saudi Arabia want to get rid of Erdogan, who has shown a willingness to get along with Russia and perhaps “normalize” relations with Syria. The stakes are very high, but it should not be long before we know which direction the Turkish leader will take.
