A sophomore at Laytonville High School, interviewed Ralph Cantor, an expert on the effects of cannabis and alcohol on the adolescent brain. Excellent information. Updated 2015 Recorded last month. Dan Roberts www.youthspeaksout.net
My name is Carlos and I am a sophomore at Laytonville High School. Ralph Cantor returned to Laytonville this May to talk about the adolescent brain and how it is affected by marijuana and alcohol. He began by holding a public forum at Laytonville s Harwood Hall.
I listened to Ralph s presentation in my freshman year. It led me to do much personal research on the adolescent brain, and the way that cannabis products affect the development of personality. It also made me wonder about how we educate youth on the topic of substance use. I was a panel member at a public discussion in Willits this past April called Making The Healthier Choice the Easier Choice. It was part of a series called Avenues To Wellness, and was moderated by Tina Tyler-O Shea. There were 8 youth on the panel and we enjoyed sharing our perspectives with the audience. You can find out more about this speaker series at www.avenuestowellness.org Before the public forum in Laytonville last month, I interviewed Ralph to find out what he would discuss this year. I also had some questions and wanted to share my views with him about the topics. So this interview will begin with Ralph and I talking about my experience being on the panel discussion in Willits.
