Mostly I focus on proper names, especially place- and personal names. This discipline is called onomastics. My place-name work is mainly about finding out the origin of English place-names created before about 1500 A.D., but frankly any place-name of any period can be interesting if you look at it in the right way.

Nick Corcos is a Bristol archaeologist with a particular interest in historic landscape. As well as producing bread and butter archaeological surveys after building demolition and before new foundations go in, Nick has also produced research reports for Channel Fours Time Team TV programme.
Avon Archaeology are commercial archaeological consultants and contractors based in Bristol, providing archaeological services to the construction and development industries. It is one of the longest continually active archaeological units in South West England.
