Today we finish up our presentation of the reportback by Nancy and Hubert Murray and the Reverend Mariama White Hammond. Last week we featured Nancy and Hubert Murray's presentations. As promised, this week we feature White Hammond's presentation, followed by the very rich question and answer discussion. This was a particularly inciteful reportback because of the historical perspective offered by this particular delegation.

Rev. White-Hammond is an advocate for ecological and social justice, youth engagement, and Spirit-filled organizing. As former director of Project HIP-HOP ("Highways Into the Past - History, Organizing and Power"), she used the arts as a tool to raise awareness for social issues from juvenile incarceration to funding for public transportation. She is very committed to engaging the faith community, and particularly the Black church on climate change and ecological justice issues. She presently serves as the pastor at the New Roots AME Church in Dorchester, MA.

Before we end, here is an update on the continuing assault by the Israeli lobby on campus groups who stand in support of Palestinian liberation and in particular the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign (BDS). Recently there have been provocations on 2 campuses, Swarthmore on the East coast, and Pitzer in the west.

The outside pressure on groups at Swarthmore has been so intense that it fostered a letter of support, which we read, from prominent educators and activists across the country. At Pitzer, a Mondoweiss article, which we read, begins with this summary: "Pitzer College’s governing council took an historic vote to suspend a program of study at the University of Haifa because of Israel’s discriminatory policies. And just three hours later that resolution was vetoed, emphatically, by the college president."

Stay tuned!
Begun in 2004, This Week In Palestine (a weekly 8am feature of Truth and Justice Radio (TJR) is an award-winning 45-minute (or more) segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization of their homeland. It speaks from the point of view of Palestinians and those who care about them. TJR is aired Sundays 6-10am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, also streamed live and archived for two weeks at wzbc.org; TJR's modest website, truthandjusticeradio.org, has a link to This Week In Palestine archives back thru 1-6-2008; editions are also accessible at radio4all.net. TJR sometimes airs Palestine coverage IN ADDITION to that provided by This Week In Palestine. We hope you'll write to us at tjradio@fastmail.com if you rebroadcast our work, or have questions or comments.
