We shouldn't dismiss Maduro's allegation that the U.S. sabotaged Venezuela's power grid. There is a double-standard in the West about 'conspiracy theories.' We are asked, without evidence to believe that Syria's President Assad gasses his own people, that Russia placed Donald Trump in the White House and is behind every nefarious thing in the world, and so on. Yet we are simultaneously told not to listen to foreign governments who are under assault from Washington.

We have two competing narratives on power failure in Venezuela. We know as a fact that the power went out in Venezuela. We also know that the U.S. has openly admitted to conducting cyber-warfare on countries such as Iran and Cuba. One U.S. analyst suggested that the timing and nature of Venezuela's electrical failure is straight out of the cyberwarfare playbook. It is therefore not inconceivable that Maduro is right.

We are living in a time in which the Monroe Doctrine is openly being touted in the highest offices and voices in America. This is a naked and illegal regime-change in Venezuela. And "rules-based" Canada is dutifully following Trump. The Organization of American States doesn't allow this kind of interference, so Canada is pretending it doesn't exist, and refers constantly to the "Lima Group" faction instead.

Gowans also discusses the regime-change scripts and institutions Washington uses. Guaido was likely trained at one such organization. Behind it all are big investors, who seek to control Venezuela's oil resources.
